dsl ◊ 2015-02-24 19:21	3rd thumb looks like SNO 666M plate - works car prepared for 1974 Scottish rally, but event cancelled. Then went to 1974 1000 Lakes (Makinen), stayed in Finland for Makinen in local events/championship (still as works owned), reappeared on 75 1000 Lakes (Vatanen - first works drive as promising newcomer, but crashed). Then returned to UK and sold to David Sutton. As I can't match #15 to its works career, I guess this is later footage when Sutton-owned at some 75/76 UK event (but not 75 RAC). 4th thumb WWC 251L Monte carlo #3 is Makinen/Liddon, finished 11th. Later in 73 it won Arctic Rally (Makinen), Dukeries and Lindisfarne (both UK, Roger Clark) and its final event was 1973 RAC (Marku Alen) which has gone down in RAC legend for a debut appearance and "one of the most astonishing drives ever seen in an Escort" according to Graham Robson's book. He crashed and dropped to 177th, then set loads of fastest times to reach 3rd, which he kept till end despite rolling the car and nearly writing it off on final stage.
