This is not a Consul but a Zephyr. The reason why is that the Consul had inclined rear lights like here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ford_Consul_204E_1956_side.jpg and the Zephyr had more upright rear lights like here http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10514 (please note this car has no moulded ribs on the rear plate beneath the boot lid meaning it was made between February 21 and September 1956). Also: not many Consul's had over-riders as that was optional extra. That is a 1956+ Ford Zephyr [206E]. |

This is indeed a Zephyr, and what zodiac says is true up to a point. But post-1959 Consuls - Low Line models - had rear lights more like the Zephyr's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ford_Consul_204E_1961_375_rear.jpg . You can distinguish them from the rear by the Consul's reflectors being round and the Zephyr's oval: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ford_Zephyr_206E_Convertible_rear.jpg -- Last edit: 2011-07-18 15:12:34 |

Oh sorry! What I meant to say was that my information above just was concerning the highline models which this Zephyr belongs to. |

@zodiac: No need to apologise. I simply added the Lowline info for the interest and edification of other users. |
