You can tell by the sunken windshield wipers that it is a 70 or 71.

I think this car should deserve *****, as the Ford Custom 500, because it is very often seen and has a main place in the story.
here, some other pictures:

Marseilles, the Lincoln is parked on the north-west side of the "Vieux-Port"...all the buildings in the background have been built after WWII, the whole west side which was part of the heart of this very popular and central district of the old Marseilles has been destroyed by germans when they left the city to the US/french forces

Nice shots of one of my favourite district in Marseilles, "le Front de mer" between "Endoume" and "Le Prado" beach (south east of the city)

5 stars! The whole story revolves around this car, its on screen for the last twenty minutes of the movie. Always amazed that the cops were able to tear this car apart so well and then put it back together so it's destruction went unnoticed. Anyone know what It's real curb weight is?

4,866 lb was the weight listed on US spec models. As for foreign spec models, it can vary based on a country's vehicle restrictions.

They had four hours, and only took out the carpet, seats, part of the dash and the door panels. All that can be put back in four hours.

That is incorrect. They do in fact tear the Lincoln up. At 01:25:22 Popyeye is seen actually ripping part of the insulation/carpet. He ripped it out so bad it could not be put back in. At 01:25:53 Popeye is heard saying "Tear it out!" while the rear driver panel with wires hanging is ripped out. At 01:26:00 Popeye is seen with a butter knife with an interesting design on the handle cutting a panel on the rear passenger side. At 01:26:05 the headliner is pulled down and torn. At 01:26:54 Irvin the police inspection mechanic is seen draining the Lincoln's oil. And finally the tires were removed at 01:27:00 and surely they removed the tires from the rims to see if any drugs were inside. The car was torn up pretty good and I have to agree with Portacker, there is no way the car could be tossed back together in 4 hours. On top of that they would have had to do an oil change after draining the oil! Also this scene was filmed at the end of production, the scenes with the mint condition Lincoln were shot before the teardown scene.

Is there any information regarding whatever became of this car after filming wrapped? It would be great to know the whereabouts of the dope mule Continental!
