The white is, as Firebird writes, a Dauphine. The closest car is a Chevrolet BelAir '57

The black car is not a Rover. Rovers, in these years, had all doors hinged at the rear, not only the front ones.

It sure is an Y and judging by the thinner rear mudguard and no overriders on the bumpers it would be an YA

The YA was introduced in May 1947. I would say it's a 1 1/4 Litre ( and not 1.4 Litre ) since it was powered by a 1250cc engine.
