No, the model is Ford Falcon - XR8 is the trim level, and the Boss 270 designation is for the engine, not the car. All XR8s have the Boss 270 so not necessary to include it in the name -- Last edit: 2009-07-03 04:58:07 |

That's like saying an M3 is a trim level on a BMW 3 Series. The XR8 has a different bodykit, different engine, different interior and im no expert but im sure some of the underneath's is different as well from the standard car. It's the high powered version of a Falcon just like an M3 is the supped up version of the 3 series. |

I renamed it to "Falcon Ute" as model name, someone removed the Ute to put "Utility" in extra info... wasn't the name "Falcon Ute"? As we have others listed like that AND that it is named like that on Ford AU website, it seemed correct to me  |

Ute is a shortened version of Utility, the full name. And an M3 is very different to a regular 3 series BMW, wider track, flared wheelarches, substantial body modification, the XR8 is just a sports model in the Falcon range with no substatioal modifications to the body, just a V8 and some bolt on plastic trims, and different seats. It is not a "unique" model in its own right. The equivalent to the M3 would be the FPV GT |

But on the Ford site they are listed as "Falcon Ute" as a separate model. And until now we usually listed these with Ute in the model name. |
