That's what I would have said..BUT ..are you sure it's not a Seat.. or some other obscure russian, polish name.? |

I do not think it would be a Seat. Fiat made plants in various east-Europe countries, including Bulgaria. Not sure if the Fiat make was used or if it was a local name. |

Polski Fiat 126p was produced by FSM. "Polski Fiat" means "Polish Fiat". FSO Polonez was absolutely different car, produced by FSO http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/1634/polonez09lp.jpg |

FSM is the plant name: Fabryka Samochodów Małolitrażowych. The brand name was Polski-Fiat for the complete production time (1973-2000). |

Fiat hadn't plants in central/eastern europe, because it wasn't possible (to 1989). Fiat cooperated with some factories from this region and sold licences. As I know Italians cooperated with: Poland - Polski Fiat, Yugoslavia - Zastava and Soviet Union - VAZ. In the early 90's Fiat has bought Polish FSM (now Fiat Auto Poland, which also from the 70's produced some "126" engines and even completed cars for Italians). In 1994 after modernisation Polski Fiat 126p became Fiat 126 el and FSM logo has been removed from Cinquecentos. Car from the picture is 1987/88 Polski Fiat 126p. EDIT: Possibler it is color code 75 - 1989-90. -- Last edit: 2013-06-21 13:05:16 |
