Clive: "For a pitifully small amount of foreign currency, you could catch a cab to town, or wherever the cab stopped when the engine fell out. My own cab ran quite well, if you didn't mind a tendency to catch fire in second gear. The steering wheel had only a spiritual connection with the car. It didn't matter, because there were hardly any other cars to hit." |

Shanghai SH760. Don't know when squared headlight appeared. 68? 74? |

It was in production in this style still around 1986/87. Once I owned a sales brochure from the very first Shanghai Santana -they send it to me by post after my request!- in the background you could see the assembly line of the SH760. |

The centre of the body looks like a Mercedes ponton. |

Yes, it was always said during the years, that they used a Ponton-Mercedes for copying. No official relations to the Mercedes Benz-company. |

This is the facelift model introduced in 1986. Known as SH 760 B. Plastic grille replaced the chrome one. -- Last edit: 2017-05-04 18:23:28 |
