It's a 1975-77 Ford Econoline. It is 100% certainly NOT a 1978 (even though they were identical to earlier models) since the movie was shot in spring of 1978 and the new models would have come out in September of 1978.

Totally!! :p Actually this could be a 1978 for the time (not that I think it necessarily is) because as you said...it was the Spring of 1978 when the movie was filmed. So, all 1978 models of cars were the new models out. The previous September of 1977 was when the new 78 models would have first been introduced. That September of 1978 would have first introduced the 1979 models.

But, ol' Bob probably would not have had a brand new "party" van. ;) It's most likely a few years old...1975.
