"Giulia Sprint GT Veloce", according to Wikipedia. -- Last edit: 2009-03-02 19:44:20 |

1967 race had 4 of these coupés - numbers 60E, 61E, 62E, 63E, with 60E and 61E being official team cars for the importer (Alec Mildren) and they finished 4th and 3rd respectively. 1967 was the first year for Class E - unlimited class, for cars over $4,500 which was expected to attract lots of exotics but in 1967 only had these 4 Alfas and a Dodge Phoenix. The Alfas had a big scrap for the lead with the works Falcon GTs - the first time Ford entered big V8s - but the Falcons finished 1st and 2nd. It's not totally clear what Alfa models these were, as above, wiki says Giulia Sprint GT Veloce but there are references elsewhere for Sprint GTA. Indirect reference - at least for the actual Bathurst cars - says GTA was not officially available locally but several RHD examples [105.34] did reach Aus as special imports, both as road cars and special race or rally-prepared versions. Main is I think 63E onscreen, thumb spinning is next sequence and clearly 61E. Next sequence after that has 60E, but not captured. |

I raher think this is a Giulia Sprint GT Veloce for the grille three orizontal bars. |

Car 61E has serpent on c-pillar hence a Sprint Veloce, GTA's didn't have that. I can't say anything about main pic car. I don't see the grille bars myself. |

Also note the door handle. It's the standard flush 105/115 coupe handle. GTA's had older style external handle I assume main pic and thumbnail cars are same model. |
