That "Y" instead of a "y" explains why I did not recognize the last letter... So it is a Brockway, thanks for the link ;)

Hey! Brockway went out of business in 1977! Are we sure this is a 400 series? 400 series were pretty heavy-duty stuff.

This Brockway seems medium or light duty.

Brockway made the 400's as their cabovers. Check out www.hankstruckpictures.com and type in Brockway 400 Explorer4x4.

I searched Brockway 400 series but I only found regular trucks and not COEs, with the exception of one that looks too heavy duty to be this Brockway.

explorer4x4

2006-06-09 01:12

And there are almost no differences in the Brockway 300 series, 400 series and other Brockway COEs except strength.

What does this truck do?

explorer4x4

2006-06-12 05:44

It doesn't do much. In fact, the only time it is seen is when Billy and Curtis run into the sewer house when it just sits. Curtis says "Good thing that one was outta gas." and Billy replies "What makes you so sure that it was?", and one their way out, the Brockway starts up and starts after them. Then Billy blows it up with Henershot's bazooka. The company the truck is hauling is "Sunny Glow Dairy" I think (not sure though), and once again, I don't know if it is a real company.

the truck was later borught bacl to universal studio's after the scene that it blew up in & the trailer was hooked up to a '73 International Transtar II, there was no fire damage to the truck when it was blown up with the bazooka, just the truck was later auntioned in '87, in Los Angles, CA were it bought by a small trucking company in Wyoming it was later sold off to an o/o in '95 in Chicago hauling a box trailer were it still remains today

It took forever to research, but here's a brief guide to identifying Brockway Cabover models: Starting in 1963, the Brockway 400-series was introduced, simply being a remodeled version of the Mack F-series introduced in 1962. Regardless, the only models in the series are the Brockway 457 and Brockway 459. The 457/459 models come in several variations, as listed here:

Brockway 457T - Single Axle Tractor
Brockway 457L - Single Axle Box/Straight Truck
Brockway 457LF - Tandem Axle Tractor
Brockway 457LL - Box/Straight Truck
Brockway 457LLL - Tri-Axle Tractor, Box/Straight Truck.
Brockway 457TL/LQ - Tandem Special
Brockway 457LFOH/LROH - Off Road/Extreme Duty

Obviously, this truck is a Brockway 457T using the guide. The 457's were produced from 1963 to 1977. However, in 1972(ish), a new interior design was implemented and made available. Unless somebody has a Behind The Scenes interior shot of this Brockway to confirm it's a 1972+ 457T; this should be set to 1972 by default I think. Also this truck should get 2 stars. In the movie, Bill and Curtis have to hide from it in order to attempt and rescue the bible salesman. After the salesman is killed, and they are heading back with Deke from the shower room. This truck starts up and attempts to chase them, Bill blows it up, and milk spills everywhere. It's last seen in the background as the trucks leave Dixie Boy before it explodes. I should note, that another Brockway 457T can be seen later on during several scenes hauling an orange air freshener trailer, when the Mule is blown up it can clearly be seen, as well as when Deke arrives on his bike.

Edit: The Difference between 459 and 457 models are engine types. Brockway 457 models have Detroit engines, and 459 models have Cummins engines.

It has the earlier interior, and based off my previous comment, it instates this truck as a 1963 Brockway 457T. Also it should have 2 stars, not 1.
