It's a 220 SE Cabriolet and although with a more recent rear view mirror or the mirror placed on the door, the steering wheel with the circular horn ring is a feature of an early car.

The early "elfenbein"-steering wheel doesn't mean anything - it's very very popular for many Mercedes-fans, so they mount it into cars, which never had it before - sometimes even in 1974+ W114/115 and other "safety steering wheel"-Benzes. Which is definitely ugly looking and ugly beeing cobblework! [:puke]

This car has the newer wheels and hubcaps. Maybe the owner wanted to save money, so he mounted the 1968+ wheels, because the tires for the old rims are much more expensive and not easy to get, but I say, due the wheels it's clearly a 1968+

When I mentioned the steering wheel, I wasn't mentioning its colour, but the shape of the horn ring. This car doesn't seem to have been carefully restored (even the passenger's sun visor vanity mirror wasn't preserved) and the wheels could have been swapped by 14" ones. Nevertheless, the exterior mirror is also older than 1968 and what is seen of the inner side of the door identifies an older car. Here's a photo of a 280 SE where you can see the details and also the different horn ring.

Christine and her car, are both of '62 looking like beeing of '68 more.
the interieur should be the key to the real age, especially parts noone ever would like to change, like the (neck?) cracked inner portion of A-pillar, inner door compared to rpcm's 280 SE, style mix/ color combination make the car look like a bonbonniere a bit, while Christine Neubauer changed to relatively slim lines since than
21th of June she will take a seat on that red leather again.
