This 1929 Studebaker President "FE" 7 Passenger Tourer was originally sold to Paramount Movie Studios by the Paul Hoffman Studebaker Dealership in Los Angeles and used to chauffeur dignitaries between the studio lot and local hotels. In addition to being used in this 1932 movie Shanghai Express, it was also featured in the 1932 Movie Hot Saturday, and used as a parade car for the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics. After use by Paramount studios the car was sold to Bishop E. Shafer of 2400 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles who passed away in 1947. The car ended up on the used car lot of Atlantic Auto & Truck Sales, 19020 So. Figueroa, Gardena, CA. (Los Angeles County) and was sold by owner Mike McManus to Robert & Helen Branton of Los Angeles for $200 in November of 1955. The vehicle remained in the Branton family until February 1997 where it was sold by Helen Branton to the Huston Family in Sacramento, Ca. and is still owned by that family as of 2010. There were approximately 60 of these models originally built by Studebaker and only four remain in existance today. Information and documentation obtained from Historical Archives, the Antique Studebaker Club and vehicle owners. |
