The shape looks right for a Mazda RX7 but they didn't make convertibles in the first generation -- Last edit: 2009-02-09 20:19:51 |

Have watched some of the chases on Youtube and it does appear to be an RX7 that must have had a convertible conversion http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wl3M-zhJymg&feature=related |

Looks to be an extremely rare RX7 "Pacific Avatar" which was an after-market convertible modification. |

i'd say yes... Global Coach also made a coach built RX-7 convertible, but i don't think they used any "pre-facelift" cars for their conversions, and Pacific Avatar seems to have used these wheels on several of their cars. from memory, only about 150 or so +/- made over the 7 model year run. pretty uncommon indeed. |

Hello everyone, I am the long time owner of this exact mazda Rx7. I was stunned when I saw it here!!!! I bought this car in 1984 at the age of fifteen. I have loved this beautiful car for 27 years and it is still in my garage! I purchased this car from Rotary Specialties in Bakersfield california. The vehicle was brought to this shop after the filming of the movie was completed with the intention of having a intercooled twin turbo engine dropped in it by the previous owner, which I understood at the time to be someone involved with the movie. There finances went south and the car sat at the shop with no engine. My Father happened to own the tire shop right next door and being fifteen and completely focused on getting my first car it took all of about 30 seconds to get my attention. After some fierce negotiations , lol , and the selling of my dirtbike and alot of yard work we aquired the car as it sat. Dropped a low mileage used 12a rotary and away I went. I drove this car all through high school and many years after before I retired it to a few yearly drives and the garage. I actually plan on driving it to my 25 year high school reunion in febuary!!! Should be a kick. And yes this is a Pacific Avatar Conversion. The very first one. James |

redrammer if you aren't a member of the Rx7club.com you should be there are a couple of us on there that have pacfic avatars. I know that the few of us that have real pacfic avatars need to keep in touch with each other. Knowing that this one exsists that makes only 5 that are left. If you are still in California there is an annual show in the LA area called Sevenstock we go frequently if you want to contact me email rotarydave@aoldotcom. Great to see that you kept her alive. Hi guys, I'm Jordyn. My father, James (redrammer), the owner of the car, actually passed away in September of 2012. When he passed away the car was given to my siblings, and I. I just wanted to let you guys know that he is not the owner of the car anymore. We do not plan on selling it, it has such sentimental value to us. |

Jordyn, I am truly sorry to hear about your father, I am delighted to hear that your family kept the car. I would love the opportunity to see it or pictures of it sometime in the future as I now have 2 of them and really need to find an early early one like yours to verify a couple things on one of mine. Please feel free to contact me at rotarydave@aoldotcom |
