When they introduced the smaller cars, they gave them the 'II' designation after the model name in order to avoid confusion with the full-size lines that were still proudly produced. That way, we now have Mustang II, Bronco II and LTD II, much to the confusion of spare parts sales clerks.

Callahan ◊ 2006-03-27 23:58	And the LTD II was actually bigger than the "fullsize" LTD in 1979!! To make things more confusing. After 79 LTD II's were discontinued.
