Could this be role due that it was part of the chase (The Land Rover did made contact with the subject vehicle here)? Also, you can see that the motor has been removed for this stunt. |

It may surprise you but the 1200 'Sparkäfer' kept these taillights, along with the older bumpers, until 1973 (German production), while the whole range finally got the 'elephant' taillights and square bumpers for 1974 (1200, 1300, 1303 and the Cabrio) |

Ah of course, never forget the Sparkäfer! You are right. However, I believe the Sparkäfer changed for the square bumper in 1970 already (while still keeping the old lights that is). |
