It has some advantages. The inside of the car is quite good actually (three seats for the front row, and lots of other things...)
Too bad that the outside is one of the worse...

I wouldn't be surprised. Clarkson is a total idiot talking 99% rubbish.

also possible, but Multipla beats it I think :D - once a cab-driver using Multipla told me, it is so ugly, but I like it, because I am sitting inside a must not look at it :D - it is something like when they were asking (someone, I really do not remember the name) after Eiffel-Tower was built,
-where in Paris he likes to have a coffee
-he answered, on first floor of the tower (he was well-known as the hater of it).
- Why?
-Because it is the only place in Paris, from which I can not see it :)

Anyone who has better knowledge, please correct it to the right form :)

The Guardian compared the original to a pottery frog. :)

Quote Barking mad from its headlamps to its brakelights, and at all points in between, the award-winning Fiat Multipla used, in its original form, to present a strikingly eccentric face to the world. It came with a plump roll of puppy fat between its windscreen and its bonnet, as if someone was pressing down on its roof - mistaking the car, perhaps, for a friction-powered toy. And at each end of this roll were circular lamps, which blinked out at you like perky eyes. Further down, the radiator grille described a peculiar, gummy, wide-mouthed grin. No vehicle beyond the confines of a merry-go-round has so closely ressembled a pottery frog.

There's probably a version of this for every city in the world. ;)

I hate to say it, but I actually prefer the original design, strange as it was.

At the end of the day, its a people carrier not a super car, it never was going to be good looking, i for one praise fiat for being daring and not trying copy the germans. I admit I wouldn't buy one for its looks, maybe for its practicality because it has 2 rows of 3 seats, and also the multipla was the first people carrier to do that, Honda got all the praise years later with the FR-V which isn't right really now is it? plus the used prices are insanely cheap as are running costs and it wouldn't look that dated in 10 years time because of its quirky design etc.
