(Kia has never gotten rid of the Bongo Name for their small trucks) I am pretty sure the underpinings of the vehicle was from Mazda Bongo of the same period. The exterior and interior were different. Despite the Bongo name is originated from Mazda, it's one of Kia's iconic brand name as, in Korea, Bongo = mini vans.
