All Metropolitan production went to US/CDN until Austin got permission in 1956 to sell the Metropolitan elsewhere in markets which American Motors were absent. UK launch in April 57 during the "Series III" period and sales in other markets seem to have started about the same time. Some uncertainty if Austin name was used in these cases, but cars ever had Austin badges, just "soft" promotion. |
