The Morris 1500 was developed in the UK specifically for the Australian market where it was introduced in mid-1969. It used a slightly modified MkII bodyshell with a 1500cc engine from the Austin Maxi. The automatic version was equipped with the 1275cc engine and so was called Morris 1300. |

Also, Morris 1500 (manuals) had a cable shift 5 speed manual gearbox, instead of the 4 speed with linkages used in the 1100 |
