Front makes me think Honda. Back makes me think Mercedes. ![]() |

Definetely no Mercedes (you thought about a R107, eh?). We can can continue he mix. The door-handle looks Volvo-ish and the front as a mixture of Audi 4000 and Toyota Celica Supra. ![]() |

That's what I thought it was. |

Ah, I've never seen this car. So built in Mexico would be correct. |

This is indeed a Datsun 200SX either 1982 or 1983 U.S.market. This is one with an aftermarket convertible top that was done by a number of convertible conversion shops. For example American Sunroof Co. |

1982-83 only by the bumper style. This was most likely made (converted) in the U.S.A. rather than Mexico. while there were about 1/2 dozen companies that coach-built 200sx convertibles, almost all of the Mexican built Intermeccanica cars were sold within Mexico, and there were only between 50 and 60 made in total. the VAST majority (and those approved by Nissan/Datsun) were built by American Custom Coachworks - which I think may have been the same company as American Sunroof - in the U.S (California). |

good catch. i'd have to question if it's really the same car. there are some pretty fundamental differences including the fact that the one in the movie had a wrap around rear window rather than a flat one... i s'pose that the top could have been replaced, and the car painted after the filming, and still had enough time to deteriorate again, but it's somewhat unfortunate, at least. |
