The blue car on the left seems to be a Fiat Regatta too.. |

The Uno lasted 11 years (but is registered as a 111cc!), the Cavalier lasted a respectable 14 years. I`d say theres more Allegro`s left than either Uno Mk1`s or Cavalier Mk2`s... yet the Allegro was always slated as being a poorly designed & badly made car... |

My family Fiat 126p lasted 20 years and 200,000 km with any engine/body overhaul. However it perished because raging rust. Especially the mileage could be some record because 126's engines lasted 80-120 tkm usually, 140-150 tkm sometimes, 200 tkm very rarely. :P Our Fiat thanked for oil. Much better than factory claims. -- Last edit: 2010-08-21 14:11:44 |

That must have been an air cooled 126, I doubt the water cooled `bis` would get to 100,00km, let alone 200k! Fiats usually get treated badly in the UK as they are cheap, so suffer abuse & neglect as well as rust from our salted roads during winter. I have a 22yo Panda 750, a 20yo Uno 60S, another 18yo Uno 60S i.e. & a 17yo Tempra 2.0SX SW, all are still going strong, but they havent done high mileages, in fact my 88` Panda 750 has only done 17,000 miles (around 21,000km).... -- Last edit: 2010-09-22 23:54:05 |

Oh, I see you have the arcane knowledge about old Fiats. Yes, it was air cooled 126. And it's true, the 126A2.076 watercooled BIS engines usually need overhaul after 70,000-80,000 km. However I knew one sample which hit 160,000 km. Pity, it's died suddenly. The piston rod staved large hole in crankcase. :O |

If somebody claims the old FIATs have limited durability he must see this (write in Polish, sorry): http://www.youngtimer.pl/board/viewtopic.php?id=6150 This white '84 FIAT Regata 100S clocked 750,000 km (yes, the number of zeros is correct) with one engine's overhaul few years ago. And it's everyday vehicle still, with third engine today, better than original overhauled. -- Last edit: 2010-09-23 00:27:58 |

Well I`ve had a few 126`s, both air & water cooled, I dont like the water cooled one because of its unreliability, which is a shame, because I like the fact its a hatchback! I would like to put a large motorbike engine (like a BMW 1500) in one 1 day! I`m also wondering if the new Fiat "Twin air" 2 cylinder turbo unit would fit in a 126 or 500! |
