mm ◊ 2006-01-14 20:14	Unknown manufacturer yet. The name is Bren gun carrier (from the Bren machine gun usually mounted) or Universal Carrier. The original design was from Vickers-Armstrong, but the Bren was manufactured by many companies. It was based on a Carden-Lloyd design, developed by Vickers-Armstrong and produced by a number of manufacturers : - Aveling-Barford - Ford - Sentinel - Thornycroft - Wolseley (of which three are still missing in our list!) It was called 'Bren' if a machine gun was mounted, 'Wasp' if it was used as a flame thrower.

I can add "Aveling-Barford" to the list of makes that require "mk" instead of "series", though it will still keep that mk and the end. Sunbar ◊ 2009-11-22 17:43	CT199801 to CT201800 Canadian Army Universal Carrier, pre-1949 registration. 'CT' prefix indicates Canadian Army vehicles. These had exactly the same numbering system as United Kingdom Army vehicles but included an extra C before the number. (Does not indicate country of manufacture but rather usage.)
