Even Nashes were imported to Japan?! I imagine the numbers of these cars there must be incredibly small! |

Why is that so surprising? Nash was very successful in the immediate post-war years and saw exports to the whole world. This is a 1951, identifiable by the fins seen in the 1st thumb and the restyled dashboard. Shorter hood and lack of fender trim: Statesman. Based on the doorpanels: Super trim. |

We've had quite the appetite for foreign brands in the Post-War years, even if they might've not been as successful as the Big Three of Detroit... Anything from America or Europe would have been an easy sell ![]() In fact I've spotted two Metropolitans in Japan over the years. They're rare and probably originally were from the US, but here they are: https://platesmania.com/gallery.php?markaavto=587&usr=84734 -- Last edit: 2023-06-09 13:18:56 |

Those tiny Nashes make more sense, as Japan was a country of small cars in the time. |

They got them, too. And even those 'compact' Nash Ramblers were massive as far as the Japanese market was concerned. |

Anything that has a 3-number class code (2+liter engine, 4.7+meter long or 1.7+meter wide or 2+m tall) will always be seen as big... ![]() Especially compared to kei-cars or entry model sedans (later hatchbacks). -- Last edit: 2023-06-30 16:48:28 |
