you're admin now, why don't you rename these? |

I thought I would give time for other people to comment. |

Well if you are sure enough, go ahead: usually I rename vehicles without confirmation nor check if the comment does not include a "?" or "guess" and that it is from a reliable member. |

I can understand Car Nerds hesitation, since the Frazer Manhattan and Kaiser Virginia were very close... I'm not sure about the year, though. 1949 and 1950 were similar, but in those years the rear wheels of both Kaiser and Frazer had spats. Only 54 Kaisers and 70 Frazers were built in these two years. In 1951 131 Frazers were built with open rear wheel arches (like this one) different grille, front and rear wings (not well visible here) and writing on the rear door instead of the front fender. That year Kaiser got a new body design and there was no convertible sedan anymore. So I'd go for a 1951 Frazer Manhattan [F5162]. |

Yes, I think you're right, it's an extremely rare '51 Frazer 4 door convertible. Wow, what a find! Were all Frazers of that year called Manhattans? |

No. The convertible was the "Manhattan", the 4-door hatchback was the "Vagabond" and the 4-door sedan was simply "Frazer". -- Last edit: 2011-09-06 16:58:31 |

The car is a 1951 Frazer Manhattan. While it's true all 1951 Frazer convertibles were Manhattan models, and sedans were simply know as "Frazer", there was also a 1951 Frazer 4 door hardtop which was called a "Manhattan." It looked just like the convertible but the top did not retract. There were about 132 of the 1951 Manhattan hardtops made and they too are rare. One can be seen in Porky's II -- Last edit: 2012-12-15 02:48:50 |
