watch the real Smokey and the Bandit movies, the ones with Burt Reynolds and Jerry Reed, and Jackie Gleason, and more importantly, the 1977, 1980, and 1983 Trans Am instead of the Dodge Stealth in Smokey and the Bandit 1 (1977), Smokey and the Bandit 2 (1980) and Smokey and the Bandit 3 (1983).....those were real classic movies. |

Not a Mitsubishi 3000GT, the spoiler is different than the Stealth. This one is definitely the Stealth rear end. |

Since the Stealth was a reskinned Mitsubishi GTO/3000GT, should it be "Model Origin: Japan, Made for: USA"? Or, given that the Stealth nameplate was exclusive to North America but the cars were built in Nagoya, Japan, should it be "Model Origin: USA, Built in: Japan"? Between the real Bandit car (the Trans Am - /vehicle_2514-Pontiac-Firebird-Trans-Am-1977.html) and this Dodge Stealth, it’s pretty obvious which one would win when racing each other just by looking at them. Never mind the horspower level of each car. |

Growing up i remember watching this (was 15 at the time) and i always thought it was a Stealth R/T Twin Turbo but i guess it's just a regular R/T? i remember seeing Brian Bloom in the 80s drivers ed comedy "crash course" |

no, that was definatly an R/T twin turbo with the all-wheel-drive, probably a 1993, with white leather interior. There's one scene where he takes off from a stop and you can see all four tires spinning out. The R/T TT model was the only one with that feature. I don't get why they refer to the car by it's name in the shows but still black out the badging on the rear of the car. The sound of the exhaust of the Stealth when it's flying around was really sweet. I've always liked these cars and wished I had one. They have a bad rep for being fragile and really expensive to maintain, espeically the turbo ones. I was just watching these old Bandit TV movies off Encore on demand. I remember being disappointed back in the day that they didn't have anything at all to do with the original Smokey movies except for the name of the main character. And Brian Bloom was so smug and douchey as "the Bandit". They never really explain either why he's such a popular legend around town. The only thing he did well was act like a dick and wear badly dated shirts. But that Stealth powersliding around corners was sweet though |

I actually didn't mind them going with the Dodge instead of a Trans Am for this show. It's a great looking car, new for it's time, and looked really fast and agile in the chase scenes. |
