Has been tweaked with later bits - wheels, arches, mirrors - but black headlight surrounds were V8 feature Aug 80+. However, the usual story is that these first V8s were 109" only and known as V8 Stage 1, with a new rectangular black plastic grille, but it seems a small number of export only 88s were built - the only listed destination was a batch of 25 for Jamaica police, which was cancelled so they went to Trinidad & Tobago instead - no info where else or how many. Entering as 81+ for the black recesses, but not confirming as V8. Thai assembly listed for short period in 60s and then 2011+ - no mention of 70s or 80s. |
