Don't know about the cars further back in the box, but black rounded boot in right is Oxford S2 (or similar Cowley or Isis). |

Just behind the subject vehicle is a Sunbeam Talbot. Ten or Two litre? I think that the subject vehicle could be a 1939 Humber Super Snipe Sports Saloon. “Cars of the Rootes Group” Graham Robson, Page 72. Or not. -- Last edit: 2023-02-03 19:11:19 |

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Alvis_TA14_Mulliner_rear.jpg Please compare the shape of the window in the rear door, and the various swage lines. Also, look at the height of the car, it’s taller than the others, the TA14 was quite low slung. -- Last edit: 2023-02-03 08:54:11 |

Scrub Cowley, chromed rear window surround, overriders. http://www.simoncars.co.uk/morris/cowley23.html Not all Oxfords had the name on the boot lid, either. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Oxford_Series_II_rear.jpg Tyre doesn’t look big enough for Isis, go for Oxford on qty built. Cowley 17413 Oxford 87341 Isis. 8541 -- Last edit: 2023-02-03 09:10:07 |

Good call. I've also got a bigger version of same photo "from the 1939 catalogue" in another book and looks exact match. Apparently introduced as part of the Super Snipe range launch in 1938. A bigger boot arrived on the 1940 range (announced Dec 39) along with a "more modern" grille and mascot, and deletion of running boards, but very few made due to other events. |

The taxi on the left looks to be 'EMY 673', a 1937 Beardmore Paramount Ace Taxi Mk.VI also seen a year earlier, in 1954, in "The Sleeping Tiger". |
