If PJ 363 is real, then it would be a Surrey plate from Aug. 1931 to Oct. 1932, which this car looks too old for.

It is a pre WW1 design, in all probability. No front wheel brakes, vertical scuttle and windscreen and the door in the rear of the tonneau.

The authorities were not quite so particular about “age related” re-registration then, so the plate could be that currently belonging to the car, but indicating 1931. It is obviously intended as the butt of some joke in the film, my first thought was mock-up, but maybe not. The curved front axle could be a clue.

It's Stanley Lupino trying to tame his new wife Thelma Todd, she could either walk or ride in this. It's a version of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew".
