Indeed, that's sad :( I suppose these cars are not so common? (I've the image that in Japan there are really very few old cars, but maybe it is similar as in Western Europe, still not so difficult to find old timers?)

Has the roadworthiness inspection in Japan become even stricter?

Quite a few classic Japanese cars get destroyed in the new Korean film Hunt (including cars that aren't listed yet):

When will producers learn that this isn't the 80's anymore and stop wrecking 70's cars

Definitely not as common as most other places in the world, but if you know where to look for you can still find these oldies ;)
And while I haven't heard of JCI becoming stricter, apparently these old cars didn't have proper documents for passing it for reregistration (c/f my comment on the main page) so I think those cars were unfortunately lost causes regardless of their fate.

Looks like they used three Crowns and three Presidents. It' still a shame to see them get wrecked (just use CGI), I like these Crown S60 "Kujira" models.

It looks like they used three without paperwork, and they were from cold and wet Hokkaido so they would of been terminally rotten I'd imagine.

"It's really hard to get the Crown and Prezi together, and in the end we won't make it in time, so we decided to pick up bullets from Hokkaido just to sleep on the ferry."
"It's not shown in the main story, but in the end we ended up with 5 crowns, 3 of them without paperwork."
