Chevrolet Alero? CCF, were you "up in the clouds" again? -- Last edit: 2008-05-10 00:56:25 |

Indeed. Here in the United States, it was sold under the Oldsmobile name. But as Mackster said, in many European countries, it was sold under thh Chevrolet name. |

Yet the steering wheel kept the Olds logo, and i think for some of the models the logo of Olds was also in the front, but im no sure. |

That wouldn't surprise me. It's probably cheaper for them. I've seen the same thing with Ford in Mexico, as the Grand Marquises over there have both Ford and Mercury badges, as well as Ford rims. |

Yeah, the same happened with Gallopers, they kept the Mitsubishi logo on the steering wheel too. |

Wow, they really sold it as Chevrolet? I wonder if those ones were built in my town too? (Lansing, Michigan) Btw, it's quite ironic we are having a converstaion about this car, as I just drove one of these babies a couple of hours ago |

i read somewhere that the first year (1999) had all of the Oldsmobile logos but they were replaced with the bowtie for the rest of the car's sales life. |

Two hours ago I've seen an Alero - I think, the first time ever, that I've noticed this model. This would surely not have happen, if I wouldn't have stand directly behind him - because it's an incredible inconsiderable and boring car! It looks like a mutation of the world's most boring and faceless cars ever, included something from the Ford Mondeo, the Nissan Primera, the Dodge Neon, etc. I really couldn't imagine, if it's orign USA or orign South Korea (the actual cars on the German market, sold as "Chevrolet", are, except some single Corvette's or SUV's, all rebadged Daewoo's), but as taxiguy wrote, it's indeed something American. |

I see these from time to time around here e.g. Link to "forum.imcdb.org" |

They were sold with both badges up until the end of production. I cannot find why some on this used car site contradict what is being said about the Chevrolet Bowtie vs the Olds logo. For now it is best to leave at 1999 until we either get the EU brochures or a better in depth breakdown of the badge change. Look here: http://www.theparking.eu/#!/used-cars/chevrolet-alero.html and you can find 1999s with the bowtie and 2001+ with the Olds logo...they can't all be listed wrong can they? |

Could the ones with Oldsmobile badges be simply imported? |
