Indonesian-origin 2016+ Daihatsu Sigra or Toyota Calya. I'm leaning toward Daihatsu. |

Daihatsu Sigra indeed. ![]() |

This is rather a Toyota Calya, as I can see the right badge inscription says "CALYA". Surprisingly, Calya outsold the Sigra in five years except in 2021. [B401RA] for Calyas. Unfortunately, the other two Calya entries has been switched to [B401A], which is the wrong code, [B401RA] is the correct one. Did @antp changed the codes for those two entries? -- Last edit: 2022-09-15 08:11:41 |

No it was not me. I've changed them again. @Exiv96 > was it you who changed these? |

Yes, it was me. When it comes to Toyota chassis codes, we don't list the letter denoting LHD or RHD, because that's what this R means. |

I didn't know that, sorry for changing it again then ![]() Indeed it is better to use more generic codes than too specific ones: the reason for using these codes on the site is just to separate generations of a same model name, or regroup cars whose model name change depending on the country (which works only with generic codes) |

Alright, you got me, turns out it was Daihatsu's fault. Something you've said there is not belongs to Toyota, but Daihatsu. After learning and experiencing many Daihatsu models developed in Indonesia for emerging markets, and checking the VINs/frame numbers of many Toyotas posted by many users in many entries, this car is not a Toyota-developed vehicle, but a Daihatsu one. Scribbling back the previous entries for all emerging Daihatsu-developed cars, seems this looks to be an unique chassis code system for Daihatsu when designating their emerging cars; the chassis code designation for Daihatsu cars developed in Indonesia (at least most of them) for emerging markets ends with not the usual initial of the bidirectional traffic designation what we've known for, but rather some kind of a random letter to assign the brand and model for the model as a part of the rebadging engineering practice in the automotive industry. This system is very confusing, I wasn't sure why Daihatsu decides to do this, like they wants us to refer the bidirectional traffic initials (L and R) retroactively for their Indonesian-developed emerging cars outside of their JDM and the Perodua cars, and puts a random letter right next to these initials. I'll be honest, I kinda wish they should use something like [B100AR], [B100AS], [B400AR], [B400SR], etc, whatever one of those types of cars rolls out the production line. Wikipedia also says something like that. ![]() I think I need to revise and edit many of my old comments here to take your effect. This one gives me a headache. The following Daihatsu cars developed for emerging markets, that affected something like that... - Daihatsu Ayla - Also includes Toyota Agya and Toyota Wigo. - Daihatsu Sigra - Also includes Toyota Calya. - Daihatsu Xenia - Also includes Toyota Avanza and Toyota Veloz. - Daihatsu Terios - Also includes Toyota Rush. - Daihatsu Gran Max - Also includes its Toyota-badged counterparts for export markets, but doesn't includes those sold in Japan. - Daihatsu Luxio - Daihatsu Rocky [A250] - Also includes Toyota Raize, but doesn't includes the JDM [A200] models. - Daihatsu Sirion - The Perodua Myvi-based one. To be honest, [B400S]/[B401S] on the Daihatsu and [B401A]/[B401A] on the Toyota were actually FAKE and UNOFFICIAL codes, they may look like JDM codes, but seems Daihatsu don't want to apply their JDM-style codes to their non-JDM cars, including Sigras-Calyas. While we want to keep simplified but in order to keep things realistic and official, per of Daihatsu, let's eliminate the last two initials (both, the first letter denotes LHD and RHD, and the second letter denotes the usual model/bodytype designation too as there's no space we want to keep anymore) for the emerging non-JDM Daihatsu-Toyota collab models for more easier searching. I shall propose these codes as usual... - Ayla-Agya -> [B100] and [B101] - Sigra-Calya -> [B400] and [B401] - Xenia-Avanza -> [F600], [F601], [F602], [F650], [F651], [F652], [F653], [F654], [W100] and [W101] - Terios-Rush -> [F700] and [F800] - Gran Max -> [S401], [S402] and [S403] - Luxio -> [S402] - Rocky-Raize -> [A250] and [A251] - Sirion -> [M300] (wasn't sure the engine code for the first gen 1.3 models), [M602] and [M804] Some Avanza-Xenia entries have done this simplification before. For Sigras-Calyas with the 1.2 engine, should be simplified to [B401]. |
