Humber 12 Vogue Saloon 1935 to 1937. Suggest that the DVLA is wrong as usual as I have 1669 cc from two different sources for the capacity of the four cylinder flat head engine. The Vogue saloon was a special edition of the 12 as the standard cars used a more normal six window sedan styled body.

A certain Captain Molyneux is supposed to have designed it. However the good captain was a fashion designer who probably did not know a drawing board from a cupboard- but the Rootes brothers were great publicists. The first examples had upright chromed radiators- this one is 1935, most probably- Later radiators were painted. It was indeed 1669cc- 69.5 x 110mm, four cylinders, 49bhp. 65mph and 0- 50 in a leasurly 26 seconds. The Hillman Minx gearbox had synchromesh on all four gears- but it was a poor fragile 'box'- Still at £260 this was a hansom car and not too expensive.

The same car (I don't believe that many are around either) later appeared in the Half-Blood Prince: /vehicle.php?id=428342

My ex husband and I owned this car for a while, used it for my sons wedding, then sold it late 2006, early 2007 to fund some surgery. It was a nightmare to drive!..surprised to see it has gone on to have a glittering film career!
