DAF, according to "Classic and Sportscar - A-Z of cars 1945-1970" they were sold in UK as 1200 De Luxe. |

I guess that would be correct on cars from 1962 MY and on, but so far I havn´t seen designation 1200 in any original sales literature before the introduction of the VW 1500 Typ 3. But it´s very common in magazines and books of today to use the designation 1200 even on cars from the early fifties, but I believe it´s historically incorrect. I have seen just one british brochure over the years, from about 1955, it was using the designation VW De Luxe Saloon, browsing the internet now didn´t come up with much more than two modelcars from the period using that designation: http://www.gasolinealleyantiques.com/kits/images/car132/revellcadet-vw.JPG Link to "www.vectisdirect.co.uk" |

Well, I just thought that the roadtest was a bit more substantial evidence. And I guess the toys will be sold and the links will lead nowhere. |
