Yes but there's a workaround... Since the last 6 or 7 digits of the NZ VIN is ripped straight out of the original chassis ID, you can recreate the original ID by figuring out the possible model code(s) for the car in question and sticking the digits on to it... Not that carjam gave me any further info So this car'd be either BA4-6204465 or BA5-6204465

VINs are required, by law I believe, in NZ so when they are imported a VIN is created, as jnlpmera said, with the serial number and then the first 11 digits are added. I believe.
