The New Zealand VINs are not checkable AFAIK. Upon entry in NZ the government assigns their own VIN which supersedes the chassis number from Japan. |

Yes but there's a workaround... Since the last 6 or 7 digits of the NZ VIN is ripped straight out of the original chassis ID, you can recreate the original ID by figuring out the possible model code(s) for the car in question and sticking the digits on to it... Not that carjam gave me any further info ![]() So this car'd be either BA4-6204465 or BA5-6204465 |

As jnglmpera said I don't think so either. NZ does this for JDM cars that do not have a VIN. VINs are required, by law I believe, in NZ so when they are imported a VIN is created, as jnlpmera said, with the serial number and then the first 11 digits are added. I believe. |
