As I see it has a 'Club of four' cab. 'Club of four' was a colaboration project between Volvo, Saviem and Berliet (later Renault), Magirus-Deutz (later Iveco) and DAF, but also Mack came in after Renault had bought a share in 1979. Is there a Renault badge in the middle of the grille? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Club_of_Four Is there a closer look? -- Last edit: 2022-07-02 21:56:53 |

In USA we stay with Mack (Renault) Midliner, Volvo and Magirus (without Deutz). I exclude Mack by what is visible. It didn't have Renault logo, but "Mack" lettering placed on fake grille above the main one. It reminds me Magirus the most, there is something in place where Magirus had "Iveco Group" logo. 160 A 11 FL was the "lowest" model among the rigid versions. I think Volvo didn't sell in North America trucks with exact "Club of 4" cab, but with its own, widened modification (models F6/F7). |

Yes, Magirus https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/3nsAAOSwQItUHLvX/s-l500.jpg is fine with me. Volvo reinforced the cabins to make it withstand that a one ton barrel (an oil barrel filled with concrete) was released from a one metre hight towards the A-pillar. If it passed that test it was allowed to be sold in Sweden. That is the reason why so few makes of HGV's made it to Sweden before Sweden joined the EU.It was just too expensive to modify the cabins for such a small amount of HGV's that could be sold. |
