New make DMW is said to stand for Dawson Motorcycles Wolverhampton (I've Not checked on the spelling, it could be Dawsen etc... Also the model name, I believe he says Deemster, I could be wrong!) The owner says it's a 1968 bike (Nothing showing on the DVLA for this reg.no) -- Last edit: 2008-03-26 11:19:39 |

It's funny how in English most of the times you have to spell the words to be sure what's been said. |

According to here: http://www.cybermotorcycle.com/euro/brands/dmw.htm DMW stands for Dawson Motor Works. This bike is listed at the DVLA, but under the brand 'DMW Deemster' ... They say it was built in 1967 but first registered only in 1991. Interesting to note that a deemster is a judge in the Isle of Man. |

Especially compared to Spanish It is probably the reason why there are spelling bee contests, often seen in movies; something that you won't find in many other languages. |

I imagine this, and maybe the Ariel Leader, were intended to replace the 'silent' LE Velocette (pity they didn't show one of those) as transport for beat bobbies. I remember they devised a crash-helmet version of the traditional British policeman's helmet for use on the LE. |
