Would the class for this one = pick-up or simple truck?

Depends how heavy it is... not pickup but chassis-cab if it is a light one, but seeing these rear wheels it seems quite heavy, isn't it?

This is a 1948 Canadian Mercury M -series truck and it should be listed as of Canadian origin. It looks a medium-duty M 47 of 4700 pounds gross vehicle weight. The bigger heavy duty models had a larger cabin that had two additional vertical chrome strips at each side of the four grille bars.

Billcasey wrote [quote=Billcasey,35190]The M-47 Mercury Truck at the webpage below is not an M-47. In Canada in the late 1940's Ford and Mercury Trucks were given different designations than the US F-1, F-2, F-3 etc.
They were given designations based on their Gross Vehicle Wieght(GVW).
A half ton with a GVW of 4,700 pounds was called an F-47. A three quarter ton with GVW of 6,800 pounds was called an F-68.
A Mercury half ton was an M-47....a three quarter ton an M-68 and so on.
Attached is a page from a brochure for an F-68. You can see in the top left the reference to 6,800 GVW.

The truck in the site below is a dual wheel truck but I cannot determine the actual model....but it is not an M-47 as indicated.

Thanks

Billcasey wrote Further to my earlier email, I sent the wrong photo.
Attached I hope is the correct photo of the Canadian brochure indicating the Ford F-68 and the reference to the 6,800 pound GVW.
