Often the markings are magnetic to make them easy to add or remove.

 Could always be retired too, this type of Astra is now two generations old, so a bit unrealistic as a police car (though to be fair I still see them used round here :D )

 Sandie, my township still has a few marked/unmarked crown vics! One is a 2006-2008 K9 and the few others are in the 2006-2011 range.

Edit: I have one in my profile that I occasionally see.

I would say it's retired but it appeared as police car in Four Lives recently- /vehicle_1596926-Vauxhall-Astra-2010.html, Vision are sometimes behind TLO but are catching up a little, so maybe we will get newer Astra as we have with TLO

 This is the oldest car I've seen still in service recently here, a 2009 (unmarked but it had blue lights in the grille):

They could have peeled the 5 year warranty sticker in the rear window off years ago :D
