Their were quite a number of Wartburgs in and around Wolverhampton (where I was working) in the early 1970s as there was an energetic agent, and the price asked made buying a new car more affordable for many people. The trouble was that they weren’t exactly pleasant or durable. I had one of my Lancias at the time so wasn’t tempted, not that it was much more durable, but was certainly nicer to drive.
