It's a trolleybus - I'm not an expert, but probably a BUT. Can we get a clearer shot? Registration number or even the route number? |

I found 2 posibilities, either a "Weyman Coronation"![]() or "1936 Karrier 6 tons 17cwt Weymann" ![]() but there are probably the same..except the front grill that we have on the die-cast model and on the movie picture but not on the Karrier picture |

...but it's a London Transport trolleybus; LT operated BUTs, Leylands and AECs. Have a look at http://www.michaeltaylor.ca/esos/photo-lt.shtml |

If we can get a clearer screen capture we may get a registration number or fleet number then we'll have it exactly. |

...not very satisfying ... wasn't Weymann clearly the body maker of those trolleybus whatever was the chassis/engine used (AEC,Leyland,...) |

Regarding the bodywork, it depends.....all London's trolleybuses from 1940 onward were bodied by MCCW (Metropolitan-Cammell Carriage and Wagon). Before that some were bodied by Leyland, Weymann, London Passenger Transport Board, Park Royal, English Electric......this episode was broadcast in January 1961, not long before the final shut down of the system. I haven't detemined yet what trolleybuses were still in use in London in 1960 when it would have been shot. -- Last edit: 2005-12-29 22:11:58 |

The wings look very much like those of an AEC, possibly N2 class. |

I turned this over to one of the leading trolleybus websites - so far no-one's been able to definitively identify the vehicle or the location. Consensus is that it's prewar, and may be F1 class; location is possibly Acton Vale, or Finchley/Golders Green, but there's no agreement even on the route, either 660 or 662....... |

More LT trolley bus discussion & links here - /vehicle.php?id=722077 . If this is AEC N2, this list - Link to "www.londonhalfcabs.com" - says Park Royal build, with a batch date of Nov 39 plus a couple in Jan 40, and disposal dates of 61-62 would match filming. |
