License plate from Gibraltar: G 7785

July 1949+ white steering wheel. As a British overseas territory, it should be Slough-assembled (see the parking lights on the fenders) and not have "Pato" in extra info.

Interesting Gamer... But why is a LHD car? @dsl do you know something about this plate?

Gibralter has driven on the right since 1929, so its cars would normally be LHD (although UK military vehicles based there apparently stuck to RHD and retained UK military plate system). The G xxxxx system (up to 5 digits) started somewhere between 1913 and 1929 - apparently the first Gib plates were issued in 1913, but earliest series started GBZ. This G xxxxx format finished with G 98999 in late 2001 (not G 99999 unless it's a misprint), after which system went to G 1000 A, G 1000 B etc.

However my book says plates were reissued, so like Channel Isles and HK, dating is impossible. It also says G 6000 was reached in 1962, which would make G 7785 a fake. But with the car details pointing at a Slough build, it's interesting evidence that Slough built LHDs.

zodiac a écrit ... the only version available as LHD from Slough was the "Light Fifteen LHD" built from 1949 until 1954. That is 304 in total, some 2 per cent of the whole Traction production in Slough (about 16.000). Until proven wrong, I believe this is a 1949-50 Citroën Light Fifteen LHD.

All this information is very interesting ... so we can change it to:
