No, until 1978 the Rabbit was imported from Germany to the USA. After 1978 VW produced the Rabbit and the Pick-up (different than the Yugoslavian made Caddy) in a former Chrysler-factory in Westmoreland/Pennsylvania. The quality over there was very bad, so VW ruined its reputation with the US-made cars. In 1988 Westmoreland was closed. |
