1962 GTO but there never was a yellow car, certainly not in 1997 as all have known detailed histories. So Replica should be added.

Several years ago I tried to discover what car inspired this yellow 1995 release by Corgi Classics (#02601)

but never succeeded. The 250 GTO plate was symbolic - it belongs to Nick Mason's #3757LM which has always been red. This was the last GTO in a Corgi series, and unusual because all the other 1990s Corgi Classics ranges were later revamped and re-emerged in the Vanguards range. The GTO didn't, because (I think) Mattel grabbed the worldwide Ferrari licencing rights, so stopped anyone else making authorised Ferrari models for several years. However Corgi had gone to some effort on this final version to upgrade many details from earlier releases, and I always thought they had serious intentions with this one, rather than just trying to casually make a pretty one for shop windows. If Jamiroquai had a yellow one about this time - even as a replica - then it might explain Corgi's inspiration, but it's a pity they never revealed it.

It's not completely impossible that some GTO at some point (perhaps in the 70s?) was painted yellow and never shown to anyone, driven if at all in some obscure place late at night where no one cared before later repainted. We'll report back when such info comes to light. But even that wouldn't be this car. CMC I see had also made a yellow one in 1:18.
