Monterey was the most common. Originally, he name (Monterey, Montclair) was wrtitten just above the front wheel arch, and the bonnet would have been closed... Hardtop versions were called Phaeton. |

Also, Phaeton was only used on 4 door hardtops not two doors. The 1956 brochure called them coupes. |

This is definitely a '56 Monterey. (I drove one in High School) The Montclair would have a "saddle" area below the side windows with the contrasting body color in it, and a chrome strip around it. This Monterey is missing the script on the fender and the chrome rocker panel cover. |
