I have the feeling Suzuki plays fourth fiddle to Honda/Acura, Toyota/Lexus and Subaru in the US. They seem to be sort of an underdog Japanese brand that you don't see as much on US roads.

Suzuki isn't sold here anymore. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki#American_Suzuki_Motor_Corp.

1. Honda/Acura (maybe 2)
2. Toyota/Lexus (maybe 1)
3. Subaru (maybe 4)
4. Mitsubishi (tons of outlanders, outlander sports, & mirages out there now)

It goes (2019 sales-I didn't think using 2020 sales would be an accurate indicator):

1. Toyota - 2.38 mil
2. Honda - 1.61 mil
3. Nissan - 1.47 mil
4. Subaru - 700K
5. Mazda - 279K
6. Mitsubishi - 121K

Back around 20-30 years ago, there used to be tiers, Toyota and Honda were at the top, Nissan was behind them, then Subaru and Mazda, then Mitsubishi and Isuzu, then the lower players like Suzuki and Daihatsu. First Daihatsu dropped out, then Isuzu dropped down to Suzuki levels when they discontinued the Rodeo. Then both of them dropped out. Meanwhile, Nissan continued to slide for a while but picked up steam in 2012, putting them back right behind Toyota and Honda. And Subaru also picked up sales in 2012 and started to outdistance Mazda. Mazda has been pretty much consistent. Mitsubishi sales were ok in the early 2000, then they dropped and didn't pick up as fast as everyone else after the recession. In the last two years they're almost where they were, but still lag behind everyone else.
