Very unusual to see it in left-hand drive configuration, let alone seeing it outside of Japan. I wonder how many made it to Europe ? |

This car was never sold in Europe, it is the US model, imported and registered in Greece, only 20 LHD Toyota Sports 800s were built. -- Last edit: Keitanyan |

I wouldn’t be so sure. Greece was one of the first European markets where Japanese cars were sold, and one of the only places for LHD Holdens. |

In total more than 3000 examples of Sports 800 were built and most sources online claim that 10% (300) of that production were made with left-hand drive configuration : Link to "www.autoevolution.com" https://mag.toyota.co.uk/toyota-sports-800-history/ https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1385726 That being said, it is true that the reason they made LHD versions was because they were meant to be sold in the American-occupied Okinawa at that time (which drove on the right), even though, from what I've read, they didn't manage to sell that many for them. It's very possible a few escaped to other LHD countries and Greece was a popular "testing ground" for cars in the European market, so this may have been imported as a test car. -- Last edit: 2022-07-30 12:21:05 |
