Any chance of plate check info, as slightly puzzled?? Red inner and outer on grille badge should mean 3.4, which is what the 340 badge on boot suggests. But boot badging is all wrong - 340 was 67+ evolution of Mk2 (slimmer bumpers) and not sold in US - and should have a 3.4 badge below Jaguar script above number plate, with Mk.2 sitting where this says 340. Added to which the 3.4 was only sold in US during first year of Mk2 in 1960 - all other sales were 3.8. "Horn grilles" instead of fogs were usual on poverty 2.4,but on 3.4 and 3.8 were repurposed as air-con vents - optional, but commmon on US cars.

So 1960 only US spec resto 3.4 with bodged badges??

Correcting myself slightly - seems the 340 was sold in US for 67 only, replacing the Mk.2 3.8 as there was no 380 version after the 67 revamp - well to be strictly accurate 12 340 3.8s "accidentally" happened, 11 RHD and 1 LHD. They had 340 rear badges and 3.8 grille badge, but I'm not going there.

However if this is a genuine US 340 from 67, it's got the wrong bumpers. So whichever way there's an inaccurate bodge.

Fake plate.

Revisited after comment above that plate is fake and undateable, and dug around again in my Jag books. A couple of clues that this is a genuine 67 340 from the small number that went to US. Firstly it has the revised rear valance which came in for 240 and 340 with cutout for twin pipes, and there is in one book a comment that some US 340s retained the Mk2 bumpers; also that all Mk2 rear bumpers had a small logo in centre denoting disc brakes, which was deleted for 240/340. So this rear bumper without logo is not the normal Mk2 bumper, but fits the idea of a US 340.

So a very rare find, and while an unexpected permutation which is not mentioned by most sources, it genuinely existed.
