We now have a handful of '36 GMC trucks with white hoods and dark cabs, from 1940 to 1962:

Possibly the same truck, or a group of trucks owned by the studio that did double duty hauling equipment and playing bit parts in the movies?

Yes, these are all Warner Brothers Studios trucks, painted blue with white hood and grille shell with red bumper/frame and wheels. They were sometimes temporarily repainted either partially, or in whole, for movie appearances.
