Last Packard design, anyway. The last two years models were trimmed-up Studebaker President Classics. |

Yes effectively. That is why they do not seem real to me, it is to take a cheap product and recharge it with luxurious elements ... although I have to say that the Packard 57 and 58 I love for their scarcity and rarity |

I don't see the '57/'58 Studebaker Presidents as "cheap products". They were well-made cars, especially considering the limited budget Studebaker-Packard had to work with at that time. |

1958 Studebaker rescue video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xbel39p1YGA from our previous member coldwarmotors. They do talk about how the fins and headlights were primitively tacked on. |

Oh of course the Studebaker 56,57,58 are magnificent cars, in fact I think they have a more beautiful design than the 56 Ford and Chevrolet ... I mean specifically the Packards ... You see a 1956 Packard One from 1957 and it's like ... Wow, what the hell happened? However in his time he would have bought a Studebaker before a Ford or Chevrolet without hesitation |

I agree about the fins and headlamp bezels. That was an unfortunate effort to keep up with design trends. For that reason, I much prefer the 1956 and 1957 models to the '58's. On the Packard issue, yes the '57's and '58's were definitely not the equivalent of the 1956 models. But keep in mind that that they were in a different price class. The '56 Patrician was in the luxury class, competing with Cadillacs, Lincolns and Imperials while the '57/'58 models were mid-priced vehicles. -- Last edit: 2021-05-02 03:13:40 |

Oh I didn't know about the price ... So a 57 Packard was at the same price as a Pontiac for example? Still I have to say that I love the latest '57 Nash and Hudson models, they seem very exclusive to me |

Yes, AMC handled the Hudson in a similar way as Studebaker handled the Packard. They adopted the Nash body for the final three model year. Hudson really lost its individual identity as did Packard. All very interesting cars, however. Fun to look for because of their rarity! |
