On the US site of Audi they only call it "A3". They do not seem to have the non-Sportback version that we have here in Europe |

It´s true, i visited the website, and they don´t have the "normal" version! Why? I can´t understand this, it was going to exist only one version? They must have chosen the normal one, then seems that the car it´s a SW! |

from what i heard, american audi was told not to bring over the A3 2 door because american VW was afraid of it eating into GTI sales. So in the US we only get the 4 door A3. the US A3 sportback is still a regular A3, audi just decided to tag on the "sportback" name in the US because "hatchback" and "wagon" tend to turn off US buyers. |

Very possibly the same car here /vehicle_95539-Audi-A3-Sportback-Typ-8PA-2006.html This seems to be an european model, so called Sportback, due to the absence of front side markers. In fact, in 2005 there wasn't the A3 in the USA yet (introduced the following year). So a product placement car borrowed from Europe |
